Around 3:15 a.m. during the night of October 1st., a building that was part of the former Dorea Institute located in Franklin was completely destroyed by fire.
As soon as the firefighters arrived on the scene, they realized that the fire had spread throughout the building. They called for a backhoe in order to demolish the burning building as there was no mechanical shovel available. An old tow truck was also used to help with demolition and to completely extinguish the fire.
The owner cannot explain why there have been three fires on the site in less than a year. No cause has been established to date.
Anyone with information concerning this fire can contact the MRC du Haut-Saint-Laurent Sûreté du Québec.
