For the past 63 years, the Ladies Auxiliary has worked with the Huntingdon County Hospital (HCH) to ensure the general well-being of the residents.

In the past, they have contributed to everything from the purchase of resident holiday and birthday gifts to the funding of a music therapy program to the furnishing of both the palliative care rooms and the family room. Their efforts also encourage a youth volunteer program. On Friday, March 31st, the Ladies Auxiliary will hold its annual spring Bazaar and Dinner—its only fundraiser of the year. Last year, the event raised a little under $4,000. In 2017, all monies raised will be used to fund a new pet therapy program.

The Bazaar will start at 9:30 A.M.—shoppers will find various items, both new and used. The goods will include items such as books, furniture and homemade items. Hungry visitors will be able to feast on a spaghetti supper as of 11:00 A.M. (take-out will be made available), with the kitchen closing at 1:00 P.M. Dinner is available to adults for $10, and $5 to children aged six to 12 (those under six enjoy dinner free of charge).

For those wishing to contribute, consider becoming a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for 2017 for a five-dollar fee.

In an effort to “promote and to advance the welfare of Huntingdon County Hospital…through service to the hospital and fundraising”, the Ladies Auxiliary was established in May of 1954. In 2019, the non-profit will celebrate its 65th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, locals can look forward to the publication of a booklet that will include a record of the non-profit’s history and marked events.
