Come February 17th, 2017, Hemmingford resident Elsa Kramell will celebrate 100 years of life.

Native to East Prussia, Elsa arrived in Montreal in 1952 with her five children to meet her husband, who had migrated to Canada a year prior. Affectionately known to her family as ‘Oma” (German for grandmother), Kramell has lived in Hemmingford since 1955.

Kramell has volunteered her much of her time maintaining the gardens at the Hemmingford Legion Cenotaph and around the Legion Hall. Often found on her patio on the warmer days of summer sipping on her daily cucumber gin and tonic, Kramell has become a fixture in the small town. She currently lives at home in palliative care with her son, Karl Kramell. Happy birthday, Elsa “Oma” Kramell.

To Elsa, from her family:

Happy 100 Years Young. Wishing you all the very best.

From your four children and daughter-in-law, 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great, great granddaughter.
